Jolene practices primarily in the area of business law.  As a recent hire to Toews & Company she brings a results-focused approach to her practice developed over more than 10 years at leading national law firms and most recently as in-house corporate counsel.

Jolene tailors her advice and strategies to suit a company’s stage of development, whether emerging, early stage or established.  She advises on routine corporate and commercial matters such as business formation and maintenance, shareholder agreements, reorganizations, share asset and purchase agreements, non-disclosure and non-circumvention agreements, internet and website agreements, privacy regulations, customer contracts, service and acquisition agreements, letters of intent, liability waivers and memorandums of understandings.

Jolene also advises in the area of entertainment law. She provides legal advice related to development, production and distribution of television, film and new media projects.  She has experience representing clients in relation to financings, including treaty (Telefilm) co-productions, CRTC co-ventures, production services arrangements and Canadian-content productions.  

Jolene grew up in cottage country in Ontario before completing a Honours BA in Business and Political Science from the University of Western Ontario.  She then obtained her law degree at the University of British Columbia.  Jolene was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2000.

When not at the office, Jolene can usually be found chasing her children up or down a mountain on various forms of gear.  Jolene is a certified yoga teacher (200RYT) and has spent extensive time in India and Bali developing her practice.  She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association.
