Richard N. (Rick) Toews was called to the bar in British Columbia in 1985 , and has practiced law for over 35 years. For the first 16 years, that practice was in downtown Vancouver. In the mid-1990’s, Rick and his wife moved their residence from Kitsilano to Squamish to raise their three children “out of the city.”
For the first ten years of his career, Rick practiced primarily as a civil litigator, with a broad practice area, including family law, personal injury, corporate/commercial, construction and real estate litigation, wills and estates litigation, and wrongful dismissal claims. Since the mid 1990’s Rick has also carried on a solicitor’s practice, including corporate/commercial work, conveyancing, and wills and estates.
Rick has represented personal and corporate clients in Provincial Court, Supreme Court and the British Columbia Court of Appeal. Rick’s clients benefit from his broad range of skills and experience, as he is able to draw on solutions and remedies from a number of areas of law.
A strong family man, Rick has no regrets whatsoever regarding moving his residence from Vancouver to Squamish and later changing the focus of his practice from Vancouver to the Sea to Sky Corridor. The Sea to Sky Corridor is a great place to raise a family, with incredible outdoor recreational opportunities at its doorstep. Rick looks forward to continuing to provide legal services for existing residents and businesses in the Corridor, as well as new residents and businesses who are discovering that Squamish is in fact an ideal place to live, work and play, and raise children.
Rick is an avid golfer. He and his family also enjoy many of the other outdoor activities that the Sea to Sky Corridor has to offer, including hiking, mountain biking and skiing.
